Music City PHiNs Mid-Winter Bowl Feb 19 2011

Music City PHiNs Mid-Winter Bowl and monthly Happy Hour

It was brought up at our Jan Happy Hour that bowling would be a great winter activity for a Parrothead club social. So vice-prez Kat got in touch with a friend who owns some lanes in town and here’s the basic plan.

Saturday Feb 19th 6-9PM at AMF Pla-Mor Lanes 2906 Foster Creighton Drive (MAP), Nashville, TN. (615) 254-5809 The RSVP headcount will dictate a modest price per person which includes 3 games of bowling, shoe rental, prizes in various categories and 3 hours of Buffett/Trop-Rock music. There will be a cash bar plus free appetizer buffet sponsored by Music City PHiNs. Designated charity for the evening to be announced.

If you are interested in bowling with us that evening please RSVP as soon as you can to Kat at katinhat22@gmail.com to reserve a place on a team.

Happy Hour Jan 21 2011

PHiNs Up ParrotHeads!
Happy New Year!

First I want to thank you for electing me President of the Music City Phins for 2011. I have big shoes to fill thanks to the great work of Kathleen Wallish for the past two years. Thanks Kat for all you have done for our organization – it is appreciated!

Second, I apologize for the late notice on our January Happy Hour event. It has been a hectic start to the new year. However, we have decided to hold a House Party this Friday night, January 21, 6-9PM at our house in Mount Juliet. We’ll kick off the year with a low key get-together as we may have impending inclement weather again (uugghh!). So, bring your favorite adult beverage and an appetizer or snack to share and we’ll drink, munch and listen to some Buffett music for the evening. Please RSVP to tnphins@yahoo.com and we will send you our address and directions.

We have great plans for the year including a Birthday Bash, Lake Luau, charity events and walks, and hopefully a concert event (tour dates are still being announced)! So be sure and renew your membership for 2011 on-line or in person as it will be another great ParrotHead year.

We also want to get you, the members, more involved. We want to create committees for Events, Charity and Finance. If you are interested in helping, please let me know!!

Again, thanks for your trust in me as president. I look forward to an exciting year of partying with a purpose! PHins UP!!

Steve Colburn

The restaurant put up a Christmas tree and club members and the public were invited to bring in toys that will be donated to local underprivileged kids. Members who earned points for their participation in club events as well as others who made contributions to the well being of the club this past year were awarded prizes like Margaritaville gift certificates, Gene Mitchell Christmas CDS, a Les Kerr CD and items from the Margaritaville gift shop. If you have photos of the party you would like to share please send them to info@mcphins.com

Many thanks to all of the Music City PHiNs members for your participation, to the management and staff at Margaritaville Nashville for working with us to have our party there and to the various pholks that donated toys, prizes and gifts.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Jimmy Buffett Surprise At Margaritaville Nashville Dec 2 2010

Pholks at the Nashville Margaritaville got a surprise visit from Jimmy Buffett Thursday night Dec 2 2010. Also with Jimmy were Mac McAnally and Will Kimbrough. Some of the songs they did were ‘It’s My Job’, ‘Nobody From Nowhere’, ‘Wings’, ‘Son Of A Son Of A Sailor’, ‘Pirate Looks At Forty’, ‘West Nashville Grand Ballroom Gown’, ‘Fins’, (some other songs I forget ;-) ) and they closed the show with the Parrothead anthem ‘Margaritaville’. Jimmy also told some stories about his previous failed show biz careers in Nashville and other misc short stories. Before ‘west/nash/ball/gown’ Jimmy asks if anybody knows the mating call of a southern belle. Answer – “Y’all, I’m drunk!!!” Surprise show lasted about 1 1/2+ hour then “Elvis” left the building.

Margaritaville Nashville Grand Opening Festivities Nov 22 2010

On Monday November 22, 2010 Margaritaville Nashville had their Grand Opening. Nashville Mayor Dean and Margaritaville officials (but no Jimmy) gave a few speeches, cut a ribbon and drank Margaritas from big (1 quart maybe) Margarita glasses. There was a tour for the media and then they opened for business. Several of the MCPHiNs were there and sampled the free Margaritas before setting down for Cheesburgers, shrimp and other fine food.

Steve wants to get more members involved in committees to bring some new ideas to a great organization.

Marcia Colburn for Membership Director/Secretary – Marcia and her husband Steve helped get the club started back in 2003. Marcia has served in various positions on the Board including Treasurer, Secretary, and Membership Director. Jamie Bonkowski for Charities Director – Hello Music City Phins – I would like to be the Charities Director for our organization. Here is just a little about me. I am an educator for OmniVisions -TASK School in Lebanon, TN. This is a a residential treatment facility for children that have been court ordered to undergo treatment and are not able to attend a regular public school due to their offences. Being an educator for many years I understand the importance of charitable organizations and what a benefit they provide to the community. I would like to work with the Music City Phins members to foster community involvement. With the help of our members we can continue to develop in our charitable contributions to the community. Thank you all for your consideration for Charities Director.

Mike Pugh for Web Master – Mike has been the constant in the club since day 1. He keeps us all informed with a great web site. Let’s keep him doing what he does best!
